General Information on cars

A fuel propelled automobile, a motor car, is a vehicle with four wheels, used chiefly for transportation. Meant to run on roads, cars can seat 2 to 8 persons. According to a census conducted recently, there were more than 600 million passenger cars the world over, the number fast increasing.

All cars can broadly be categorized according to their size, utility, construction and prize.

Size – Cars can be large or small, catering to the customer’s need. Depending upon the number of passengers it is to carry, one can choose from a host of cars available in the market.

Utility – Whether a car is meant to carry people or goods or both, there is a vast array of cars to be had. Some large, heavy vehicles take on the term “trucks” as they are hardy and may be used for rough-and-tuff riding. Others are luxury cars.

Construction – Cars may be light and delicate in built. These are mostly used to run on well maintained roads of a city or a town. Some may be glamorous, two door or four, sleek, long or with carefully moulded body. The engine of cars can vary from 4 to 8 cylinders. The powerful cars are used for racing or sports.

Prize – Perhaps this factor forms the corner-stone while a customer is shopping for a suitable car. Different cars carry different price tags.

The automobile manufacturing companies are busy competing to maintain their foothold over the market, launching newer models regularly, making customer selection difficult.
